Mateusz Damięcki. From Furioza to saving lives

The actor took part in the POSTANAWIAM POMAGAĆ project, conceived by Emilka, a ten-year-old from the Cape of Hope oncology clinic in Wrocław. She came up with a New Year`s resolution for all Poles: let`s help each other in 2026.

On the internet, all you have to do is publish a post with the hashtag #pomagam2026 and that`s it. To spread this idea to the world, famous people talk about their experiences with helping in a New Year`s podcast on YouTube.

Money from a girlfriend and life`s turns

Mateusz Damięcki admits that he once had to ask for rescue himself. At a difficult moment in his life, he borrowed money from his partner at the time to pay off debts. Although the situation was uncomfortable, it became the foundation of trust for years. Later, he sought emotional support from loved ones after his divorce. Today, he looks deep into the eyes of those who ask him for help.

Damięcki noticed that for many people, admitting a lack of self-sufficiency is a huge shock. People often delay asking for support because they associate it with weakness and giving up. It comes easiest to parents who are fighting for the health of their children.


To him, helping is associated with crossing intimate boundaries, and he responds to requests instinctively and without hesitation. Such honest confessions show that even famous faces have empty wallets and broken hearts. Damięcki does not pretend to be a hero, which makes him even more human in the eyes of his fans. However, this is not the only thread of this moving conversation about helping.

Put away brass knuckles and the power of cinema

The role of Golden in the movie "Furioza" changed the life of not only the actor but also his viewers. One fan wrote to Mateusz that thanks to this production, he gave up aggression. The boy had participated in clashes between football fans in which a man died, but under the influence of the film, he hung up his brass knuckles for good. Action cinema became therapy for him and an impulse to lead a normal life.

Damięcki receives thousands of similar messages. Some thank him for a moment of respite, others for reminding them of school literature in a modern edition.

A celebrity in service of sick children

For years, Mateusz has been visiting hospitals, dressing up as Santa Claus, and giving out presents to toddlers. He does not limit himself to one facility and declares help wherever it is needed. He remains silent about some of his good deeds because he wants to keep them only for himself.

The actor has two "Charity Star" awards to his credit – for overall contribution and specific actions. He ironically admits that charity galas are specific events where the media is more interested in the outfits than the idea. Nevertheless, he participates in them because he believes his presence will attract at least 10% of those interested to real support for the foundation. He uses his popularity as a tool to advertise "good" like any other product.


Damięcki is not afraid of difficult topics or the sight of sick children in hospital wards. He admires their strength and the perspective they can maintain even in the face of serious illness. This experience teaches him humility and motivates him to continue acting away from the camera flashes.

Boundaries between home and mission

After the birth of his children, however, Mateusz had to re-evaluate his involvement in helping. He honestly tells foundation heads that his home and wife are now an absolute priority for him. He does not want to deceive his colleagues and clearly sets boundaries for his free time. Despite a great desire to help, he does not forget his duties toward his own family.

However, he is happy to promote charity to inspire hundreds of thousands of people. He believes it is worth speaking loudly about helping to set an example for others. Although there is a school of thought that dictates modesty, he chooses to promote good attitudes in the media. He believes that the end justifies the means, especially when it comes to mental health or supporting the youngest.
