"No One Should Know the Truth" [DOCUMENTARY FILM]

According to the Belarusian Association of Journalists, around 554 journalist detentions occurred in Belarus between August 2020 and July 2023. Criminal charges were brought against 73 media workers, and 33 of them remain in prison to this day.

No One Should Know the Truth [DOCUMENTARY FILM]How did journalists become Lukashenko`s enemies? The organization Reporters Without Borders states that until Russia`s full invasion of Ukraine, Belarus was the most dangerous country in Europe for media representatives.

In the film "No One Should Know the Truth," Jan Bluz speaks with Belarusian journalists who fled from repression in their homeland. They recount how freedom of speech and the press was systematically destroyed under Alexander Lukashenko`s rule.

Jan Bluz is an independent journalist, reporter, and filmmaker. He won the Audience Award at the 18th WatchDocs International Human Rights Film Festival in Warsaw for the film "The Underground of Hope". He is the author of documentaries from beyond Poland`s eastern border: "Article 293" and "And Who Is the Traitor?".
